Rosalie Wyatt, working in Mixed-media, Painting

All my life I have enjoyed making marks. I have more ideas than I can ever express, but painting itself matters more to me than outcomes. I draw inspiration from many sources, and I value years of part-time and occasional tuition. Of media used, I prefer acrylics on MDFand sketching in ink. After GCE O-level, I have no formal qualifications in Art. Throughout 22 years' as a probation officer, I enjoyed art exhibitions, resumed holiday sketching and took part in various Art evening classes. While working full time I learnt more about women artists, and I begun to collect prints by women Since retiring early in 1998 I have attended art classes. And painted in workshops with others. In Sheffield I exhibited among Artists at the Edge, Present Art, Sharrow festival galleries and the Tsunami Auction. I have also taken part in open Studio events from 2005-8 before moving to Plymouth. For me, painting is beyond photography, more selective, interactive, a response to a place that calls.
