Iain Grant, working in Mixed-media, Painting

I am a hospital doctor who worked in the Royal Navy and the NHS. I started playing with various painting media a long time ago, as a way of relaxing during a busy working life. Initially self taught I have been inspired by many artists, but in watercolour especially by Ted Wesson, David Curtis, and David Bellamy. Some workshops with John Hoar succeeded in loosening my painting style, and I have also had lots of practical help from Rob and Sian Dudley of Moor to Sea Arts in Ivybridge. I get bored painting the same things in the same way all the time, and have more recently started working in pastels, with some help from Margaret Evans! Although I live in and love Devon, I am drawn to paint the Cornish coast and my Scottish homeland more and more. I have been a member of the Buckland Art Group and Plymouth Watercolour Society for several years and have exhibited widely in the West Country, from Bath to St Ives. I undertake commissioned work. Original paintings and some prints are available direct from me.
